Guelph Pro Radoja Tops Hellmuth, Wins Canada's 5th Bracelet 0001

Canadian poker pro Mark Radoja navigated a field of 162 to claim victory in one of the most prestigious events of the summer: Event #16: $10,000 Heads-Up No-Limit Hold'em. Radoja won 7 heads up matches including wins over 13 time bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth, Justin Bonomo and Don Nguyen in the final to capture his 2nd World Series gold bracelet and the $331,190 first-place prize.

“Nobody else I’ve played knows how to read people and I have to give him credit for that ... I check-raised him four times with nothing and each time he re-raised. If I could play with him another five hours I would take advantage of that. He made great reads. He deserves credit for that.

Radoja's is a serious Canadian success story, the Ontario based poker pro now has produced 6-figure earnings in 4 straight years, has 18 WSOP Cashes, $1.46 Million in Series earnings and 2 bracelets. The win has pushed him into the top 50 of all time Canadian players by earnings.

After winning his first bracelet a $5000 Shootout event in 2011 (winning $436,568) Radoja came in second in a 6-handed event at WSOP 2012. We'll be tracking his progress as he spends some of his winnings on more events in this year's series.
