TSN's coverage of the 2013 World Series of Poker debuts this week with the first two episodes of the Main Event in Las Vegas. Episode 1 airs Wednesday at 3pm and 8pm Eastern with Day 3 coverage of the main event. We join the action with 1,723 players all seated together first the first time inside the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino.
Phil Ivey Featured in episode 1
As the episode begins, 9-time WSOP bracelet winner Phil Ivey is building a stack and picking up momentum at a feature table full of amateurs. A good portion of the episode is dedicated to Ivey's battles with these game yet over matched foes.
Hellmuth Protege Explodes Into Chip Lead
TSN's coverage kicks off with several notables still alive, including Phil Hellmuth, Greg Merson, Doyle Brunson, Michael Mizrachi, Annette Obrestad, as well as comedians Kevin Pollak and Ray Romano.
They were all chasing Mark Kroon, who entered the day with 507,300 in chips. Hellmuth leaves his seat to conference with his friend Kroon and provides his signature unsolicited commentary and key fist pumps during the night's largest hands.
New WSOP Segments
In addition to Ivey action this week's show includes a walk down memory lane with Chris Moneymaker in the 10th anniversary of his historical WSOP victory, sideline interviews with Canadian hostess Kara Scott, a new "Mic Check" segment featuring Canadian Daniel negreanu, and an odd discussion between Kevin Pollak and a piece of jewelry.
