Someone is paying attention to the thriving poker scene in Alberta and the demand for marquee events. That someone is the DeepStacks Poker Tour (DSPT). Just two weeks after announcing their expansion into Canada for the first time by hosting a tournament series at Grey Eagle Casino in Calgary come September, DSPT has just announced a second Alberta event planned for October at Casino Yellowhead in Edmonton.
The nine-day series will run from October 4th to 12th, and features a $1,350 Main Event with two starting days and a $150,000 guaranteed prize pool.
DSPT has also announced that professional poker players Mike “The Mouth” Matusow, Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi, and Tristan “Cre8ive” Wade have made commitments to attend the event.
DSPT is a Los Angeles-based company that organizes poker tournaments with large fields and huge prize pools that attract mainstream players and give them the experience of an internationally-recognized poker series. They aim to create player-friendly events attended by poker pros and broadcast via live stream and on television.
In the press release on the DSPT website, DeepStacks CEO Chris Torina says “the Canadian poker industry is thriving. The opportunity to bring DSPT to Edmonton gives players a chance to play an elite level of poker on their own turf. Casino Yellowhead is proving to be an exceptional partner and we can’t wait to put on a first class event at their property this October.”
