Phil Kessel 2nd to Vanessa Rousso in Charity Tournament

Phil Kessel NHL Alumni Charity Tournament

Vanessa Rousso has won the PokerStars NHL Alumni Charity Poker Tournament, beating Phil Kessel heads up for the top spot. But the biggest winners were the charities that benefited from this event.

Each player was playing for their charity of choice and a piece of $100,000 to use for their donation. After outlasting great Canadian poker pros Daniel Negreanu and Jonathan Duhamel, Kessel finished second to Rousso and earned $15,000 for his chosen charity: SickKids Foundation. Kessel matched the prize with $15,000 of his own money to bring the total to $30,000 for SickKids. Yesterday, Toronto Maple Leafs’ mascot Carlton the Bear presented the cheque at a Toronto hospital.
