The second and final Day 1 of the Hard Rock Casino Vancouver (HRCV) Poker Championships Main Event has seen players bag and tag and we're ready to go into Day 2 and find a winner for this event.
Day 1a finished with Todd Fletcher holding the chip lead, showing fantastic talent and consistency after final-tabling Events 2 and 3 back-to-back.
The $1,100 Main Event received an additional 114 entries on Day 1b to bring the total to 212 for the event. 61 players will return for Day 2 on Sunday to play down to a winner. First-place prize is set at $60,129!
Here are your chip leaders going into Day 2:
The series is sanctioned by the Canadian Poker Tour (CPT) which awards players points for their Player of the Year race using the Global Poker Index player-ranking system. CPT is also putting up a Player of the Series package for the HRCV Poker Championships that will award the player with the most points across Events 2, 3, and 4 a $1,100 Main Event seat for CPT Spring Showdown next week in Calgary, cash for travel, and accommodation.
Here's a look at the top five on the leaderboard so far:
|Position||Player||CPT Player of the Series Points|
|1||Duy Vu Ong||130.69|
Remarkably, both Ong and Fletcher final-tabled both Events 2 and 3. Ong won't be gaining any more points in the Main Event, so Fletcher has a good chance of winning the Player of the Series if he can make yet another deep run. As he currently holds the second biggest stack going into Day 2, he's probably the one to watch.
Check back tomorrow to find out who won the Main Event and the Player of the Series when action is complete.
