The world's largest online poker site is about to descend upon Montreal, Canada as the PokerStars Canada Cup kicks off at the Playground Poker Club on Friday.
The 12-event series will run from May 16-28, including a $3,300 buy-in Main Event with a $2 million guarantee and a $10,400 buy-in High Roller. The Main Event, which starts on Thursday, May 22, also features three starting flights and a next-day re-entry format.
Playground Poker Club is located less than twenty minutes south of downtown Montreal and opened in late 2010. The largest poker room in Canada, Playground is well known throughout the poker world for attracting large fields and generating huge prize pools.
Other events in the PokerStars Canada Cup include the kickoff event, a $150 No-limit Hold’em Re-entry event with four entry flights and a $100,000 guaranteed prize pool; a $330 Pot-limit Omaha/No-limit Hold’em mixed event; and a two-day $550 Pot-limit Omaha Three Lives event. Rounding out the series are the ever-popular six-max and eight-max No-limit Hold’em formats plus a $300 Bounty event.
“Playground has to be one of my favourite venues in the world to play cards," says Playground Poker Club ambassador Jeff Gross. "These guys have the formula down to a T.”
Playground also offers players a range of services to fuel their bodies and minds while at the tables. Players can order a delicious table-side meal from the Rail Coal Fire Bistro at any time, and massage therapists are also available to help with the aches and pains of a long poker session.
