PokerStars is bringing back their Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) for its sixth rendition from May 4-18 offering 45 events over three different buy-in levels and guaranteeing over $40,000,000 in prize money. Buy-ins range from just $5.50 to a high-roller heads-up event for $21,000.
The series concludes on May 18 with the Main Event; the low buy-in is $109 with a $1,000,000 guaranteed prize pool, medium is $1,050 with a $2,000,000 guaranteed prize pool, and the high is set at $10,300 and boasts a $3,000,000 guaranteed prize pool.
The series will feature 14 different game types including Hold’em, Omaha, Stud, Razz, Deuce to Seven, Five-Card Draw, and Badugi.
The SCOOP is one of PokerStars’ marquee events on the poker calendar and the high buy-ins attract some of the biggest names in professional poker. Viktor ‘Isildur1’ Blom holds the all-time record for most money won with just over $1.5 million. Most of that came at the tail end of the 2013 SCOOP when he was able to defeat Noah Boeken heads-up to win the SCOOP high buy-in Main Event for $1,096,200. Team PokerStars Pro and Canadian Daniel Negreanu was also able to win his first SCOOP event to add to his storied poker trophy case.
In 2013, SCOOP had an overall prize pool of over $75.5 million that started with a $40 million guarantee. With the same guarantee this year, PokerStars is looking to eclipse this year's prize pool as well. Participants aren’t just playing for prize money though, winners will also receive a Movado watch to go along with their first place winnings.
