CPT Summer Showdown Day 4: Centanni on Top and Speta Cashes Again

CPT Summer Showdown at Grey Eagle Resort & Casino

Another day has passed in the 10-event series at Grey Eagle Resort & Casino in Calgary, Alberta. Canadian Poker Tour's (CPT) Summer Showdown sped up the action with Event 3 on Monday, a turbo no-limit hold'em tournament.

With the buy-in set at an affordable $250, the Monday blues were allayed by a $20,000 prize pool guarantee and a fast-paced structure. With 113 players passing through registration, the guarantee was surpassed as there were $24,153 awarded in the event.

With the usual payout structure giving prize money to the top 10% of players, 11 people made a profit in the event. At the top of the heap was Dustin Centanni from Vancouver who collected $7,000 and the CPT trophy. This is only Centanni's second ranked tournament result. His first was a fairly deep run in the World Series of Poker Circuit Main Event in Vancouver last year.

Here are all of the players who cashed Event 3:

1Dustin Centanni$7,000
2Brendan Wolovick$4,750
3Anthony Hamilton$3,350
4Travis Forster$2,350
5Michael Manarovici$1,700
6Kris Taylor$1,250
7Jennifer Defreyne$1,000
8Daniel Butts$850
9Dusty Speta$725
10Jesse Titley$625
11John Fingas$553

Many of these players are logging their first tracked tournament result with their finish here. One notable name on the list who has definitely been here before is Dusty Speta who just won Event 1 for a respectable $28,000.

Collecting points for his win in the first event of the series and his cash in Event 3, Speta is currently holding the lead for the Player of the Series points race. If he manages to continue his streak and win the title, he will be awarded with a Royal Caribbean Poker Super Cruise for two and an Ivey League Master's membership for a year, though there is plenty of opportunity for anyone to scoop up the top spot as this series continues.

Next on the schedule is Event 4: $550 Mega Stack with a $60,000 guarantee. Anyone looking for a deepstack event with guaranteed action will be lining up to register this event on Tuesday. Check back in with PokerNews Canada for a recap of the day when another trophy has been awarded.
