Phil Ivey — the legend — the recent 10th-bracelet winner — has announced that his poker training site, Ivey League, will be sponsoring the upcoming Canadian Poker Tour Summer Showdown at Grey Eagle Resort and Casino in Calgary, Alberta.

The 11-day, 10-event series will see players competing for more than $500,000 in guaranteed prizes, which makes CPT Summer Showdown the largest guaranteed poker series in Western Canada. It's an event that suits the scope of Ivey League.

"We created Ivey League to give those passionate about poker a place to hone their skills and learn from the best," said Ivey. "Teaming up with a high-caliber tournament like the CPT Summer Showdown represents the next step for us."

The 10 tournaments of the series have buy-ins ranging from $200 to $3,300 and will run from July 24 to August 3. On July 27, Team Ivey will host the $3,300 High Roller event which has a guarantee of $100,000 on the prize pool.

As per usual at a CPT event, players will earn points toward the CPT Player of the Year race as well as Global Poker Index points for their internationally-recognized player ranking system. The highest point-earner throughout the series will win a Royal Caribbean Cruise Line Poker Super Cruise for two as well as an Ivey League Master's Poker Training Package for being the CPT Player of the Series.

In addition to all of the juicy value outlined above, the winner of each of the 10 events will also receive an Ivey League Bachelor's Poker Training Package.

Ivey League is an educational poker site that was created to improve the ability of poker players of all skill levels. The unique platform offers training videos, discussion forums, and coaching from 30 of the best poker professionals in the game.

"This series looks to be the largest we have ever hosted as we expect prize pools to more than double the half a million dollars in guarantees. With players able to participate at 18 years of age and with no withholding tax, Canada is a premiere destination for players from around the world," explained Richard Keeley, CPT spokesperson.
