The Sunday Briefing: David Peters Biggest Winner in Canada in Sunday Majors

David Peters wins big in Sunday majors

The Sunday past was the first big online grind day for most of the elite online players connecting to the virtual felt north of the border. For many, it was likely their first few days back home as well.

With the lights and sounds of the World Series of Poker in Vegas just a memory now, some were looking forward to forgetting the horrors of live poker, while others were looking to carry their momentum online.

One such player scored the biggest cash for Canada this weekend. David “Davidp18” Peters scored a victory in Full Tilt’s The Sunday Major. Peters earned $36,152 after a heads-up chop with Brazilian poker pro Thiago “DecanBR” Nishijima. Although Peters cashed eight times at the WSOP this summer, his victory online Sunday was greater than each of those.

Toronto’s “RaiseUpBlind” took the second-biggest score winning the Bigger $109 on PokerStars after a three-way chop for $35,830. TJ “1BigAceHole” Ulmer finished runner-up in the Sunday Supersonic on PokerStars, earning $34,076 for the third-largest cash.

A bit more success was found on PokerStars. Halifax’s “rumnchess” kicked off the day with a final-table bubbling of the $109 Sunday Kickoff for $1,221. “CzarKassim” finished fourth in the $109 Sunday Rebuy for $18,802 with Casey “bigdogpckt5s” Jarzabeck placing 13th for $2,256. Yan “yadio Dion final-tabled the Sunday 500 ending up with sixth for $15,554. “OTT CANADA” had the best finish in the Sunday Warm-Up busting eighth for $7,623. “bparis” was eliminated just short of the final table, taking 13th for $2,678.

Canadians didn’t have much luck in the biggest event on Sunday. The best finishes in the PokerStars’ Sunday Million came from “exposabre” and Peter “Apathy123” Jetten, who finished 37th and 38th respectively for $2,534.

With the 100th EPT stop taking place at EPT Barcelona next month, the online grind for satellite packages are heating up. Mike “Timex” McDonald, “jnic00”, and Laurence “SadTurtleCry” Grondin all locked up their seats to the premier event of EPT Season 11.

Over on Full Tilt, “mbAArt” won the $265 Sunday Brawl for $25,372. Mark “dipthrong” Herm also made the final table, sizzling out in fourth for $10,030. Canada painted the final table of the $635 Super Sized Sunday red and white, claiming four of the final nine seats. “exposabre” would take the title and the $31,200 first-place prize. “judge1034” took sixth for $6,300, “DiaperSniper14” seventh for $4,200, and “YRWTHMELTHR” eighth for $3,300.
