In one month from now, the Players Poker Championship (PPC) will kick off their Main Event at the Tampa Downs Fall Classic.
The PPC Poker Tour hosts US and destination poker events, and they have recently announced Toronto Poker League (TPL) as an official sponsor of the PPC Poker Tour.
"Toronto has always been a poker hot bed and has some of the most passionate players in the world,” said Sandy Swartzbaugh, Commissioner of the PPC. “Teaming up with the Toronto Poker League will send six league players to the PPC Tampa Downs Fall Classic in September. We are looking forward to a great relationship and more announcements in 2015.”
TPL will send six top league players to the PPC Tampa Downs Fall Classic with full packages to the Main Event. Each $1,000 package includes the $175 buy-in for the $50,000-guaranteed Main Event, three nights' accommodation, and travel.
TPL boasts being the premier pub league in Toronto. Players can play up to four nights a week in a variety of bars to compete for prizes that include trips to tournaments throughout North America. You may recall that a group of TPL members escaped winter this past January to attend PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA). One of them, Raymond Siu, earned a seat in a side event through the free TPL events. He went on to finish second in the PCA tournament for an impressive $47,000.
When at a TPL event, players get a chance to socialize with other like-minded players and to develop and fine-tune their poker skills. The best part about the league is that it’s free to play. For more details and where to play you should visit TorontoPokerLeague.com.
“The PPC Poker Tour provides League members the opportunity to play world-class poker, take their game to the next level, and compete for bigger prizes on an international scale.” explained Michael LeFrank, Tournament Director of the Toronto Poker League. “The structure of the PPC Poker Tour provides everyone — from amateurs to pros — the opportunity to play great poker!”
The PPC Tampa Downs Fall Classic will run September 17 to 21, 2014. The four-event series features an extremely affordable $175 buy-
in to a $50,000-guaranteed Main Event. There is $65,000 in total guarantees throughout the series and players will have a “last chance” opportunity to win PPC Aruba Championship packages for October.
Interestingly, 20% of the Tampa Downs Fall Classic prize pool will go toward entries into the 2014 PPC Aruba World Championship. The PPC Aruba World Championship, which runs October 15 to 21, 2014 at the Radisson Aruba Resort, is the premier stop on the PPC Poker Tour and features a $2,200 buy-in, $200,000-guaranteed Main Event.
Last year, Robin Kazemieh from Germany won the 2013 Main Event title, taking home $59,139. Also, 2012 WPT Player of the Year Joe Serock will be returning as the featured pro. Serock — aka 'Floes' — won the 2012 PPC Aruba and finished third in 2013. Serock has over $2 million in career earnings.
