After a five-year hiatus, 2014 saw the World Poker Tour (WPT) return to Fallsview Casino Resort in Niagara Falls, Ontario. When added to WPT Canadian Spring Championship and WPT Montreal, 2014 also became the first year in Canadian poker history that there have been three WPT events in the same year. The three-event lineup will be repeated in 2015, but this year there continues to be growth and expansion in the Canadian WPTs in that the Fallsview event will now be televised.
As announced in a recent press release, WPT Fallsview will return to the beautiful casino resort for a $5,000 WPT event and three side events with buy-ins of $1,100, $1,500, and $2,500. It all kicks off on February 7 and runs through to February 16.
Last year, Matthew Lapossie came out on top of a field of 383 entries for a prize of $363,197. This year, the eventual winner will have his or her victory documented by the film crew as they capture all of the event's excitement to be later aired on Fox Sports Network.
WPT President Adam Pliska says, "The World Poker Tour’s return to Ontario, Canada in Season XII was a great success, and we are proud to once again revisit the majestic Niagara Falls region for the WPT Fallsview Poker Classic. This CAD $5,000 buy-in event attracts some of the best poker players in the world, but live qualifiers for the tournament have been running for months, signifying that there will be a strong Canadian contingent as well."
"We’re continually proud to partner with the World Poker Tour and present this exciting international poker event here in Niagara Falls,” adds Art Frank, President of Fallsview Casino Resort. “The appeal and success of our WPT event each year is a testament to Fallsview Casino’s ability to provide a better playing experience for more players, and we’re expecting another huge turnout that will guarantee thrilling and competitive gaming action."
There are live satellites running daily at Fallsview Casino Resort. Players can also qualify online exclusively at partypoker.
