The opening day of the World Poker Tour (WPT) Lucky Hearts Poker Open at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida is in the bag along with all the chips. After 10 levels of play on Day 1a, the 357 entries that began the day have been narrowed down to 125.
The end of day chipleader was Alexander Denisov who stacked up 220,100 chips. Other top stacks belong to Tim Miles (208,000), Sheldon Gross (192,800), Dan Dyke (189,500), and Ryan Van Sanford (162,300).
Canadian WPT Champions Club member Amir Babakhani finished with a top stack of 110,000. The day did not end so well for the rest of the Canadian contingent. Jonathan Duhamel, Nenad Medic, and Eric Afriat will all have to fire a second bullet on Day 1b if they wish to continue.
Some familiar faces securing their seat on Day 2 are Allen Kessler (158,900), Darren Elias (152,000), Jeff Gross (134,600), Zo Karim (126,000), Chance Kornuth (107,300), Harrison Gimbel (95,800), Faraz Jaka (74,900), Vinny Pahuja (64,000), Jason Koon (55,000), and Jason Mercier (53,500).
Those less fortunate and busting during play on Day 1a were Noah Schwartz, Mukul Pahuja, Kevin Stammen, Loni Harwood, Marvin Rettenmaier, Tyler Patterson, Anthony Zinno, Joe Kuether, Jared Jaffee, and John Racener.
