Tuesday, at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Florida, was Day 4 of the World Poker Tour (WPT) Lucky Hearts Poker Open, and the remaining 18 players pulled up seats at the felt once again. The day was scheduled to end when the tournament was reduced to a final table of six, and it took until about 8:30 p.m. to do so.
Starting the day, Mark Dube stacked up the most chips with a tower of 4,320,000 in front of him. By the end of the day, Dube bagged the chiplead once again. He had accumulated 11,620,000 chips to carry to the final day.
This is how the final six stack up:
The story to follow on this final table is Kelly Minkin, currently sitting in third. Of the nearly 200 members of the WPT Champions Club, only one of them is female. Van Nguyen won the WPT Celebrity Invitational in 2008 at the Commerce, topping a 445-player field for 125,500. No woman has ever won a WPT open event, but Minkin is in good position to go down in history as the first.
Her first recorded live tournament result was a runner-up finish in 2013 in the Arizona State Poker Championship where she won $151,983. Since then, she has a string of small cashes, mostly from the World Series of Poker Circuit, and a win in a $570 side event at the L.A. Poker Classic just a few weeks ago for $54,630. Making the final table guarantees her at least $146,245, which would be just shy of her biggest score, but her eyes will be on the $723,008 for first and the prestige of being the first woman to win a WPT open event.
This final table resumes at 1 p.m. ET on Wednesday. Check back with PokerNews Canada at the end of play to find out who is the newest member of the WPT Champions Club.
