The Sunday Briefing: 'PickyTooth' Earns Over $100K for 3rd in Sunday Million
Each weekend, poker players put together a busy schedule of online poker tournaments on the best poker sites, especially setting time aside to participate in the Sunday majors that promise big fields and huge prizepools. With plenty of action this past Sunday on Full Tilt, PokerStars, 888poker, partypoker, and PKR Poker, there was a wide range of high-priced tournaments for the best Canadian-based players of the game.
Sunday Majors on Full Tilt
Globe-trotting Ontarian Andrew ‘achen’ Chen with wins all over the globe made the final table of the Sunday Major on Full Tilt, busting in fourth for $15,228. ‘Jknack19’ also cracked the final nine, but was eliminated in ninth for $3,236. It was a one-two finish for Canadians in the Super Sized Sunday. After a three-way deal, ‘Zachattack1327’ emerged as the victor, banking $16,453, and ‘DiaperSniper14’ received $15,673. DiaperSniper14 then went on to claim his own victory in the T-Rex pocketing another $12,351.
Earning a mention in every week's Sunday Briefing with his consistent results, the Danny ‘DannyN13’ Noseworthy report features another ~$3,000 in winnings on Sunday. Noseworthy made three more final tables and just missed out on some big prize money. The Newfie has made 48 final tables so far in 2015.
Sunday Majors on PokerStars
The largest cash of the day for Canada was scooped up by ‘PickyTooth’ who placed third in the PokerStars Sunday Million for $108,944. According to Official Poker Rankings, PickyTooth is now up over $500,000 in career online tournament earnings.
‘WywrotX’ got the day started off in the right direction, chopping the Sunday Warm-Up heads-up for $75,356. Also, Canadians have been owning the spotlight of the Sunday Storm as of late. Once again, Canada claimed the title as ‘BEAR 2345’ bested a field of 34,767 to turn $11 into $30,237. ‘Tshan47’ was the only other Canadian final-tablist. His third-place finish earned a score of $14,602. Although they did not claim the victory, ‘Lenballs1014’ took the biggest prize in the Hotter $75. The runner-up finish awarded $23,366 after a heads-up chop.
Sunday Majors on 888poker
The biggest Sunday event at 888poker is the weekly $100,000 Mega Deep with a buy-in of $215. This week, 817 players bought a chance at 888 glory, and ‘Urnotindang’ almost got the job done when he finished third for $9,804.
Sunday Majors on partypoker
The weekly $200 Sunday major on partypoker has had trouble reaching its usual $200,000 guarantee all year so far, but that didn't stop the room from bumping the guarantee to a massive $500,000 for this past Sunday. The call of value enticed many more players than usual to give partypoker a slot on their busy Sunday schedule, but the 2,106 entries was still far short of the super-sized guarantee, falling short by over $100,000. The best result by a Canadian-based player came from ‘SSSMfor_life’ who finished sixth for $15,750.
Sunday Majors on PKR Poker
While PKR Poker may be better known for their slick 3D graphics and animations than for their big tournaments, once a month they promise a $50,000 prizepool in the $150 PKR Masters. This past Sunday was the big day on the PKR calendar and 328 players took their shot at the tournament. With a guarantee of $10,000 also placed on first place, that was the exact amount won by Bulgaria’s ‘monn4466’ when the event had a small overlay. No Canadians could be found deep in the tournament.
