888 Holdings Inks Sponsorship Deal with Spike TV
A press release issued on Wednesday, April 15, announced that 888.com has inked a deal to become the first brand to partner with Spike TV, which is preparing to launch a channel in the U.K.
Thanks to the agreement signed with Spike, 888.com will be able to advertise its 888poker, 888casino, and 888sport platforms in prime time (21:00-24:00) during popular shows such as Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, Lip Sync Battle, and Sons of Anarchy.
"888 is delighted to launch a multi-brand sponsorship agreement with Spike for their exciting U.K. launch," said Itai Pazner, the Senior Vice-President and Head of B2C division at 888holdings. "The Spike channel and brand has been highly successful in the U.S. and their target audience is the perfect fit for our strong 888Sport, 888Casino and 888Poker brands."
Beginning Wednesday, April 15, Spike will launch in the United Kingdom with a 24-hour schedule available for free on Sky TV, Freesat, and Freeview.
The partnership with the Viacom Media Networks-owned TV entertainment channel is sure to give 888's products increased visibility as the ads of the gambling company will be broadcast during the channel's most popular shows.
Launched in 1983 under the name The Nashville Network in the US, the channel was renamed Spike in 2006. The US-based TV channel is set to become the first to make Breaking Bad accessible free-to-air to British TV viewers from start to finish.
Besides the popular TV series starring two-time Golden Globe winner Bryan Cranston, Spike plans to bring the UK a localized version of Tattoo Disasters along with a number of TV shows currently available in the country only to Netflix paid subscribers.
