Daniel Negreanu and PokerStars Throw Massive Summer Party in Toronto
On Saturday night, August 1, hundreds of poker players descended on Toronto’s Real Sports Bar & Grill for PokerStars VIP Club Live: Toronto, also dubbed Daniel Negreanu’s Summer Party.
PokerStars stands out in the industry for giving poker players the VIP experience online and at their live events, and that becomes even more true at their VIP Club Live parties around the world.
In Canada, we experienced our first PokerStars VIP Club Live party in Vancouver, B.C. in 2013. The following year, Montreal, Quebec was the setting for another great party. For 2015, Daniel Negreanu’s own hometown, Toronto, Ontario, was chosen as the location for another Canadian-only party for PokerStars’ players less than a week after Negreanu's 41st birthday.
Real Sports Bar & Grill is ideally located directly across the street from Air Canada Centre in Maple Leaf Gardens. PokerStars took over the property and made it available exclusively for their guests with the entire facility decorated with the familiar starred red spade.
The red carpet was rolled out, bordered by velvet ropes, and guests were invited to be photographed with card-costumed hostesses as a welcome to the party. Once inside, there was no shortage of things to keep the crowd entertained for hours.
With Joe Stapleton and James Hartigan taking the stage, the party got started with the demand to “put away your wallets. Because from this moment on, everything in here is free!” With delicious hors devours circulating the room as well as taco stands and lobster mac-and-cheese stands, the guests were happy to oblige. Of course, the open bar kept the bartenders busy pouring drinks for everyone.
If eating, drinking, and socializing wasn’t enough to create a good time, there was also a photo booth, a caricature artist, magicians, a golf simulator, a room full of Playstation 4s, retro arcade games, and an aerial performance by acrobats.
There was also a five-handed $50,000 charity tournament that featured Daniel Negreanu, Phil Kessel, other celebrity players, and one member from the crowd. Negreanu ultimately won the top donation for his charity after being dealt kings twice and then flopping quad kings with an all-king flop in quick succession.
The party-goers were also treated to a big-screen preview of the upcoming PokerStars documentary about Negreanu, titled Kid Poker. You can check out that trailer right here:
We’ll be sure to let you know when and where the next Canadian PokerStars VIP Club Live party will be as soon as we know. You don’t want to miss it!
