Série Royale de Poker was back in action at Casino de Montréal this past weekend in Quebec’s largest city. Montreal is the breeding ground for some of Canada’s top poker talent, and Casino de Montréal offers them half a dozen great poker tournaments a year under the banner of Série Royale de Poker.
This was the lowest buy-in ever run in this series. The $330 tournament offered two starting flights on Friday and Saturday, March 4-5, 2016. A total of 119 entries were tallied and 41 players bagged chips to return for Day 2 on Sunday.
Of the 12 players who made money in the tournament, the final three came out the best when they made a deal for the remaining prize pool. After the elimination of Charles-Etienne Gagnon (who final-tabled the recent TonyBet Winter Festival at nearby Playground Poker Club) in fourth place for $3,321, Randy Chalil, Lucie Chauvette, and Babak Forozandeh chopped up the more than $21,000 still to be won, none of whom have any previous tracked live tournament cashes.
Coming out with the top payout and official win, Randy Chalil will have his name added to the cup.
