Harvest Poker Classic Celebrates 20 Years with $500,000 Tournament Series

2016 Harvest Poker Classic Casino Regina

There are few things in the young world of poker that have been around for two decades. The boom came about a dozen years ago and poker surged into heights of popularity never seen before. But Casino Regina’s Harvest Poker Classic predates most of what we recognize as the founding pillars of poker.

Celebrating its 20th year, that annual Harvest Poker Classic has been around longer than the World Poker Tour and longer than PokerStars or partypoker. The tournament series got started way back in 1995 and has become one of the most celebrated yearly events in western Canada.

Saskatchewan’s capital will play host to four poker tournaments in Casino Regina’s beautiful show lounge. The elegant theatre transforms into one of the best poker venues in the country for four days of tournaments and cash games.

There will be an estimated $500,000 in prizes across the four events which escalate in value each day. To top it all off, the winner of each event will win a commemorative champion’s ring and the victor of the Main Event will also have their name immortalized on the banner hanging above the tournament room, joining the ranks of past champions like Riley Kielich, Jared Klimosko, Eric Johnson, and Rob Naylor.

Action kicks off on Wednesday, November 9, with a $500 event that gives players 10,000 chips and 30-minute blinds. That will be followed by a $700 event on November 10 with the same chips and level length. November 11 will see the $900 bounty tournament. The players will receive 10,000 chips and 30-minute levels again, but each elimination will earn players $100.

The Main Event is also a one-day event and will take place on Saturday, November 12. The buy-in is $1,100 and that gets a player 15,000 chips to battle through half-hour blind levels until a champion is found.

All of the tournaments can seat a maximum of 210 players at a time, but seats can be refilled as eliminations come, providing registration is still open. Late registration and reentry remains open for the first four levels. All tournaments start at noon.
