Deerfoot Inn & Casino’s well-celebrated Super Stack series is back in action in Calgary.
Known nation-wide as one of Canada’s most player-friendly series, Deerfoot Inn & Casino usually host three Super Stack tournament series per year. The first of 2017, Winter Super Stack, got started on Thursday.
In the usual fashion, the series began with the $550 Mega Stack that offers three starting days which will combine into a single Day 2 where all players will be in the money. Each of the three Day 1s will play down to the top 10 percent of the field before bagging chips.
Day 1a saw 71 entries pass through registration for this $100,000-guaranteed tournament. Play began at 2 p.m. and came to an end 11 hours later with seven player remaining. Bob Shandera counted out the largest stack by a slim margin with 429,300 chips. Right on his heels was Nicolas Lizoret with 427,000.

Some of the other players to take a shot but fail to survive the day included Tony Comely, Ryan Comely, Cindy Kerslake, Michael Smith, and Jonathan Sanborn.
