Mitchell Miller Wins Spring Super Stack Main Event and Tyler Hurman is High Point Champion

Deerfoot Inn & Casino Spring Super Stack

One of Canada’s top poker tournament destinations was back in action this past week with the smallest of the three Super Stack series they host each year. Deerfoot Inn & Casino in Calgary put together a five-event Spring Super Stack that ran from April 19 to 24.

The highlight of the series was the $1,100 Main Event that featured a prize pool guarantee of $100,000. After two very small starting flights, most of the players hit the tables on Day 1c to nudge past the guarantee. The final tally of 116 entries put the purse at $110,200.

Just 20 players returned for Day 2 with 12 of them to make money. By the end of the day, Calgary’s own Mitchell Miller took down first-place money of $29,500. The runner-up finish went to Thomas Taylor from just down the highway in Medicine Hat who has been on a great run this year. He collected $21,250 for finishing second which he can add to well over $100,000 in cashes already this year.

Event #3 was a $330 bounty tournament and Calvin Ventura won $5,285 for first place, plus an unknown amount in bounties.

The game switched to pot-limit Omaha for Event #4. There were 53 entries at $220 each and Toby Wu won $3,650 for the win.

Finally, Event #5 was a $330 tournament that was won by Tyler Hurman for $5,250, topping a field of 51 entries.

Hurman had also cashed in Event #3, finishing in third place for $2,700. Those two results earned him the title of High Point Champion for the series. Each in-the-money finish earned players points and Hurman’s two cashes game him the prize that Deerfoot Inn & Casino added to the series. He was awarded three tickets to the upcoming Summer Super Stack series, including an entry in the $1,500 Main Event.
