Canadians Stay Home for WPT Choctaw
The World Poker Tour (WPT) was back in action after pausing for the summer when the World Series of Poker steals the spotlight. WPT Choctaw ran August 4-8 in Oklahoma.
The $3,700 tournament received 924 entries, creating a prize pool of $3,121,980. American Jay Lee was the winner, pocketing $593,173. Prior to this tournament, he had just $10,000 in live tournament cashes.
Of the Canadians who made the trip, none collected a payout. Mike Leah survived Day 1a with a healthy stack of 189,400 chips. However, he didn’t make it through Day 2.
Next up will be WPT Legends of Poker at The Bike in California. Keep an eye on PokerNews Canada to see if any Canadians make a run at a WPT title.
