Punta Cana More Like Punta Canada as Greenwood Dominates

Punta Cana was the site for the partypoker Caribbean Poker Party which saw $9 million guaranteed across five tournaments.

The first day saw the $1,100 partypoker MILLIONS Open and the $10,300 partypoker MILLIONS High Roller take place. The first saw 812 entries with Rainer Kempe taking the win for $200,000 while William Blais (seventh — $22,500) and Vincent Tremblay (eighth — $15,00) both had final table appearances. The later saw both Pascal Lefrancois and Sam Greenwood secure a final table of the 103 entries. Lefrancois finished in sixth for $70,000 while Greenwood finished in third place for $124,100.

The next event was the $25,500 partypoker MILLIONS Super High Roller that touted another $1 million guarantee. This event saw 43 entries with Sam Greenwood making his second final table in three events. Greenwood eventually made it to heads up play but got bested by American Chris Hunichen who won the $400,000 first place prize money. Greenwood locked up $242,750 for the runner-up finish.

The penultimate event was the $5,300 partypoker MILLIONS Main Event that flaunted a $5 million guarantee. The guarantee was passed with 1,061 entries, and again Sam Greenwood made his third-straight final table. With a third and second-place finish in the first two cashes, the Canadian would have to play perfect to top those results, and he did, winning the event for $1,000,000!

The final event was the $5,300 partypoker MILLIONS Finale, with another $1 million guarantee. Adrian Mateos bested a field of 215 entries to win $250,000 while Marc-Olivier Carpentier-Perrault brought home $55,000 for sixth place.
