Dave Shiska Leads After Day 1 of 2018 Spring PlayNow Poker Championship
The 2018 Spring PlayNow Poker Championship Main Event got underway Saturday, April 28, at Club Regent Casino in Winnipeg.
Day 1 of the $1,100 event started at noon on Saturday, and by the time late registration was done, 192 entries were recorded. That put $192,000 in the prize pool, to be divided among the top 20 finishers in the event. The 20th-place player is set to win $2,448, but there's more than $50,000 up top for the winner.
Players were at the felt for 15 full 45-minute levels on Day 1 before the remaining players bagged their chips. Action picks up again at noon on Sunday for Day 2, and 35 players will be restacking chips to start the day.
The player with the most chips is Dave Shiska, who bagged up a whopping 357,500 chips at the end of the day. That's just under 100,000 more than anyone else. The second-best stack was that of Rick Blom with 276,000. For the full chip counts, head to the live reporting page.
Action resumes Sunday at noon in Level 16 and will continue until a champion is crowned. For players who don't have any chips in the Main, there's a last chance to bag some tournament cash in the $400 event kicking off at 1 p.m. Follow all the action at PokerNews Canada during the final day of play in the 2018 Spring PlayNow Poker Championship.
