This Sunday, August 12, 2018, Saskatoon's Evan "hondacivic699" Jones and "smilethenclick" shared the best Canadian result after each won a partypoker Sunday major. Jones took down the Sunday Main Event-H for a nice little score of $19,249.45 while "smilethenclick" won the Sunday High Roller-HR for $24,500. Sunday Majors on 888poker
The $100,000 Sunday Mega Deep
The usual premier Sunday tournament on 888poker boasts a guarantee of $100,000 for a $215 buy-in. This week saw 358 entries with 186 rebuys creating a total prize pool of $108,800.
No Canadians made it all the way to the final table this week. The winner of the tournament was “HomoDeus” of Germany who won $20,944 for the victory after making a deal heads up.
The $80,000 Whale
The Whale is 888poker’s high-roller tournament of the day with a buy-in of $1,050 along with a $80,000 guarantee. This tournament saw a total of 62 entries with 17 rebuys to create a total prize pool of $80,000.
This week a single Canuck found a spot at the final table. Mike pipedream17 Dietrich eighth place money worth $3,200. Chris "888Moorman" Moorman from the United Kingdom took down the win, worth $26,000.
Sunday Majors on PokerStars
PokerStars was beset by technical problems during this week's Sunday majors, preventing the completion of any of the regular events. Coverage from PokerStars will return next week in The Canadian Sunday Briefing once all the technical glitches are ironed out.
Sunday Majors on partypoker
Sunday High Roller-HR
Getting the action started this week on partypoker was the Sunday High Roller-HR. Featuring a $1,050 buy in with a guarantee of $100,000, this week's edition drew 99 entries to keep the prize pool at $100,000.
Two Canadians managed to crack the final nine on this one. Ontario's "TriggerWord" took sixth place worth $5,000 but the winner of the High Roller was Canadian player "smilethenclick" who bested the field to pocket $24,500.
The Sunday Warm-Up-H offers a $100,000 prize pool for just $215 buy in. This week, 477 entries showed up which meant the prize pool didn't grow beyond $100,000.
The only Canadian to make the final nine was "Thirst4First" who wasn't able to quench that thirst and finished ninth for a score of $1,370 while Austrian player "chelsea72" took down the whole thing, pocketing $18,850 for the win.
Sunday Super High Roller-SHR
The Sunday Super High Roller-SHR got the high stakes action going on partypoker this week with a $150,000 guarantee on a $2,600 buy in. A total of 66 players paid the price, which brought the prize pool to $165,000.
Canada was unable to find a seat at this final table. The winner of the whole thing was Patrick "Patrick_Leonard" Leonard from the UK who collected $48,078.86 after negotiating a heads up deal with Finland's Juha "JHelppi" Helppi.
Sunday Main Event-HR
The Sunday Main Event-HR cost players $530 to enter and set a guarantee of $100,000. With 241 entries this week, the prize pool swelled to $120,500.
The only Canadian to crack the final 9 this week was "yolosnap" who took sixth place for $4,919.29. British player Conor “ADRIEN_BRODY” Beresford was the player left standing at the end for a score of $23,248.80.
Sunday Main Event-H
The Sunday Main Event-H offered a $100,000 guaranteed prize pool in exchange for a $109 buy in. A total of 1,129 players showed up to bring the actual prize pool to 112,900.
"ALLYOURLOOT" was one of two Canadiasn to crack the final nine, taking third for a score of $9,043.29. The winner of this version of the Main this week was also Canadian. Saskatoon's Evan "hondacivic699" Jones grabbed $19,249.45 for the win.
Sunday Bounty Hunter-HR
The Sunday Bounty Hunter-HR this week put a $150,000 guarantee up top for this $1,050 buy in event. With 163 entries, the prize pool topped out at $166,260, with $84,760 stashed away for bounties.
The only Canadian at the final table was "guydeet39" who made it all the way to third for $8,914.87 from the main pool plus $910 for 3 bounties. The player with all the virtual chips at the end was Costa Rica's "JimyTransaction" who pocketed $16,463.96 from the main prize pool plus a whopping $23,676.25 for collecting 9 bounties.
Sunday Bounty Hunter-H
For the same Bounty Hunter feel at a lower price point, the Sunday Bounty Hunter-H offers the same $150,000 guarantee as the HR, but with a buy in of only $215. With only 719 entries this week, however, the prize pool never grew beyond $150,000.
Two Canadians were among the final nine. "nolet20" took sixth place for $2,169.30 plus an extra $692.31 for 3 bounties. BC's "ImaMark" made it all the way to second place and a score of $9,370.82 adding 5 bounties for $1,949.41 more. The winner of this one was Russia's "WlofLarsen" who collected $13,171.32 from the main pool plus another $11,666.30 for 15 bounties.
