Shawn Buchanan Wins First Bracelet

Canadian grinder Shawn 'bucky21' Buchanan was on the short list of best player to never win a World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet. A WSOP grinder year in and year out, Buchanan finally added some WSOP hardware to his name with a win in Event #76: $800 WSOP.com ONLINE No-Limit Hold'em 6-Handed.

Bunchanan outlasted David Baker heads up for the bracelet and the $223,119 first prize.

Tu Dao Wins Limit Hold'em Bracelet

Canada won another bracelet on Thursday July 11th when the final six players from the 193 entries in Event #77: $3,000 Limit Hold'em 6-Handed took to the stage to finish the tournament. Tu Dao bested Alain Alinat heads up to win her first WSOP bracelet along with $133,189 for the victory.

Dao also just missed out in another bracelet this year when she finished fourth in the Ladies Event for $52,007.

Dean Morrone Enters Day 5 of Main Event with Chip Lead

With 354 players remaining, Dean Morrone from Dawson Creek, BC started the fifth day of the WSOP Main Event as the chipleader. Coming from a small town of 12,000 people, Morrone's story is impressive as he is currently doing what every recreational poker players dream is, spinning up a stack in the Main Event after qualifying for $100.

'HectorHermano' Wins 50k on Natural8

The Canadian Sunday Briefing looks at the top Canadian tournament scores from the Sunday Majors. Canadians got off to a slow start on PokerStars and 888poker but HectorHermano David the day for Canadians on July 7th by pulling in $55,518 in the $5,000 buy-in Sunday Blade tournament on Natural8.
