Garth Arnason is the Winnipeg Free Press No Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament winner! He came back with a four-to-one chip lead for heads-up play today at noon and, just a few hands in, he finished off his final opponent, Kyle Menne.
This first tournament of the four-event PlayNow Poker Championship at McPhillips Station Casino in Winnipeg, Manitoba, received 151 entries when registration closed yesterday on Day 1. After 14 and a half hours of play, two players remained to bag chips for Day 2.
They came back to the table at noon and played a few more hands before Menne found himself claiming the runner-up prize of $14,309 and Garth Arnason collected the top prize of $22,369, the trophy, and the silver champion's ring.
