The Main Event of the 2017 PlayNow Poker Championship will have a champion on Sunday. Kicking off at 11 am local time inside Club Regent Casino in Winnipeg, Manitoba, just 20 hopefuls will return to battle for the trophy, championship ring and a top prize of $43,740.
The player with the best shot at the title is Ferosh Tailor who will begin play on Day 2 with the chip lead. Tailor scored a massive double up against Joe Chan during the final hands of the night on Day 1 and will open a bag worth 547,000.
Tailor has a massive lead over the field. Tailor's closest competitor, Dennis Rodriguez sits in second position after bagging 331,000. Erick Casselman (304,000), Harold Applebaum (303,000), and Chris Closas (201,000) round out the top five.
The defending champion, Jeff Harrison, is still in the mix. Harrison returns to action in the middle of the pack and is the only player remaining that sattied into the event, one of 28 players winning the $120 satellite at Club Regent on Wednesday.
The field returns just three spots off the money with just the top 17 places earning a prize. Anyone to make the money is guaranteed $2,586 with $43,740 awaiting the eventual winner.
