The PlayNow Poker Championships in Winnipeg, Manitoba have just wrapped up and Darren Penner has captured the final event of the series. Penner will take home $11,821 and the trophy in the $400 No-Limit Hold'em event after defeating Allan Alejandro in heads-up play.

Alejandro settled for second place but will still pocket $10,000 as will Trevor Gullivan who finished in third place. The final three players agreed to an even chop with the winner taking home an extra $1,821 and the trophy. Heads-up action only lasted one hand as Alejandro shoved all in with queen-jack suited and Penner called with ace-five. The board ran out clean for Penner as he made short work of his opponents after the deal.

The tournament attracted a total of 152 entries over the course of the registration period. It was a fast-paced tournament leading up to the bubble which grinded to a halt. It took over an hour for the bubble to burst but once it did, the action picked up again. Some other notables to reach the final table include Kyle Hartree (5th place - $3,554) and Kyle Stronski (7th place - $2,264).

That brings a close to the tournament series that saw record-breaking numbers at the host Club Regent Casino. The PokerNews team was pleased to provide you with all of the updates and continue to follow along for the next tournament series at SIGA Championships in Saskatchewan.
